Godot MCP

io.github.shin2344234/godot-mcpv0.1.2Other

Edit Godot 4 scenes, nodes and scripts; run, test and debug games live in the editor or headless.

The current version, v0.1.2, was published to the official MCP registry on 2026-10-16. It is distributed as @shin2344234/godot-mcp on npm, filed under Other by this index, and declares 14 environment variables. Removals and unreachable sources are measured across every server this index tracks, contract drift across the servers that answer in consecutive snapshots; the index's current counts put this record in context.

Using Godot MCP in Claude, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Cline, or Zed?

MCP tool contracts can change remotely with no version bump. The mcpindex gate pins each contract and HOLDs the call when it drifts-before your agent acts. Zero credentials. This is not the package install for this server itself (use Install this server for that).

Install the mcpindex gate (one command)

Rewrites your MCP host config so each server launches behind the gate. Inspect first: curl -fsSL https://mcpindex.ai/install.sh | less

Semantic screen found no manipulation pattern in the description. Conformance probe not yet run.

Limits of this verdict
  • - Semantic screen only - the deterministic conformance probe has not run on this server
  • - Confidence is reported but not yet calibrated (v1)
  • - Screen reads the tool description, not the live behavior
  • - advisory
  • - registry description only no input schema
  • - screen model 8b

Semantic screen: an LLM judge reads the tool description for hidden instructions (status PARTIAL). A pass means the description is not lying, not that the tool is safe: a high-capability tool with an honest description still warrants caution. The deterministic conformance probe has not been run on this server yet, so the screen here is semantic-only. Posture: advisory. Confidences are reported but not yet calibrated (calibrated=false at v1). Full verdict history is not shown on this page.

Own this server? Test a description on the public screen → It is a separate check from the verdict above, so the two can differ.

That verdict was true at screening time (snapshot 2026-10-20).

Contracts can change after screening, with no version bump. The gate pins Godot MCP’s tool contracts on first sight and holds any silent change before your agent acts - the check that keeps being true on Tuesday.

People vet a server before wiring it in. One line on your project site or docs answers that with an independent record: screening verdict, registry provenance, contract drift history. It stays current as new screens and drift events land.

Environment variables
GODOT_PROJECT_PATH

Folder of the Godot project (the one containing project.godot). Defaults to the folder the client starts the server in, so set it whenever that is not your project (e.g. in desktop apps).

GODOT_PATH

Full path of the Godot 4.x executable (GODOT_BIN is accepted too). If unset, the server looks for godot, godot4 or Godot_v4* on PATH. On Windows use the main Godot exe, not the _console.exe launcher.

GODOT_MCP_MODE

How tools are exposed: 'full' lists every enabled operation as its own tool (best for clients with tool search); 'compact' lists only core tools plus router tools that reach the rest.

GODOT_MCP_TOOLSETS

Comma-separated tool groups to enable, or 'all' (default). Groups: core, files, scene, node, script, run, editor, signal, resource, visual, anim, world, audio, project, import, export, code, docs, game, debug, test. 'core' is always on.

GODOT_MCP_READ_ONLY

Set to true to hide every tool that changes something (inspection only).

GODOT_MCP_ALLOW_EVAL

Set to true to let godot_game_eval run GDScript inside the running game. Off by default: evaluated code can do anything the game can (files, OS calls).

GODOT_MCP_CONFIRM

'elicit' asks the user (through the client's elicitation dialog, when supported) before irreversible operations; 'never' skips asking, for unattended runs where nobody can answer.

GODOT_MCP_LOG_LEVEL

Verbosity of the server's stderr log (use 'debug' when filing a bug report).

GODOT_MCP_HEADLESS_TIMEOUT_MS

Advanced: timeout for one headless Godot invocation, in milliseconds.

GODOT_MCP_BRIDGE_TIMEOUT_MS

Advanced: timeout for one request to the live editor bridge, in milliseconds.

GODOT_MCP_LSP_PORT

Advanced: port of the Godot editor's GDScript language server on 127.0.0.1. Defaults to the port the editor plugin reports, else 6005.

GODOT_MCP_LSP_TIMEOUT_MS

Advanced: timeout for one GDScript language server request, in milliseconds.

GODOT_MCP_LSP_IDLE_MS

Advanced: stop the private headless language server after this many milliseconds without code tool calls.

GODOT_MCP_CACHE_DIR

Advanced: folder for the server's cache (the Godot class docs index). Defaults to the per-user cache folder of the OS.
